Welcome to NAUS
Nepal Association of Urological Surgeons

Nepal Association of Urological Surgeons (NAUS) was established in the year 2005. With the increasing demand of urological services and very few urologists in the country it was necessary to have an association of surgeons. So, first historical meeting of urologists and urology practicing doctors was held in Hotel Shankar, Lazimpat, Kathmandu in July 15, 2004. With 16 members attending this historic meeting, the main aim of the meeting was to form a urological association which will formulate its rules, regulations and paly vital role in development of Urological care and services in the country. The name of urological society was decided as Nepal Association of Urological Surgeons. An ad hoc committee was formed and Prof JL Baidya was nominated as President along with Prof Prem Raj Gyawali as General Secretary with the aim of formulating the rules and regulations of the association.

Message from President

Dear Friends,

As I take up the responsibility of the President of the Nepal Association of Urological Surgeons (NAUS), I would like to thank each one of you for your trust in me and to express my commitment towards the furtherance of NAUS’s interests and advancement of the Association’s achievements to date.

As many of you are aware, I have served the Association in various capacities since its inception in 2005. In my new role as the President of NAUS, my vision is to strengthen Nepal’s urological fraternity, by bringing together all its members and building stronger alliances with other Urological Associations/Societies in the region and beyond. So, I would like to call upon all NAUS members to come together and support the new executive as we work towards this vision.

Over the next 2 years, we will continue to strengthen our academic activities and organize workshops and training programs, including for residents from across the country. I am also committed to developing subspecialties in Urology and to realize this, we will explore opportunities and support young urologists to be trained in other countries, through enhanced collaboration and partnerships with international Urological Associations and Societies. Furthermore, I hope to engage with the Ministry of Health and Population, and other government and nongovernmental stakeholders to improve access to urological services for those most in need, in far and remote communities.

Dr. Mahesh Bahadur Adhikari
President, Nepal Association of Urological Surgeons

Message from General Secretary

Dear seniors and Colleagues

Greetings and Namaste from the desk of General Secretary

At the outset I would like to thank all of you for entrusting me for the post of General Secretary of this esteemed organization, NAUS. I am equally indebted to all the past executives and founding members for establishing NAUS and bringing to this level. Now, the responsibility lies on our shoulders to take this organization to a greater height.

Currently NAUS is a strong family of more than 130 full members and 35 associate members. Each member of NAUS is the pillar of NAUS. We would like to work in a more inclusive and transparent way to support our professional members and to spread our relationship nationally and internationally. The vision of NAUS is to bring all the Nepalese urologists under one umbrella as a professional body.

NAUS focuses on academic activities, workshops and international relationships. In the coming days we will be focusing more on workshops, webinars and NAUS guideline formation. We are in the process of formation of subspecialty sections under scientific committee to expand our teaching learning, training and service quality. Marching towards Subpecialization of urology is demand time.

Currently NAUS is working in collaboration with Urological society of India, Urological Association of Asia, Malaysian Urological Association and Bangladesh Urological Society. In the coming days we are expecting to have more international collaborations for mutual benefit of Nepalese and foreign urologists.

We are equally concerned for welfare of our members. This executive will put an effort for opening the door of fellowships for aspirant members based on the need of the society. We would also like to work on malpractice insurance and health insurance (awareness and execution) of our esteemed members. Your valuable support and guidance is incredible.

We would like to work with the principle of “NAUS for all and All for NAUS”.

Jaya NAUS, Jaya Nepal
